An expert in creating custom insurance solutions for “tough-to-insure” clients like solopreneurs, independent drivers, and small businesses, Elaine Jamieson has built Concept Brokerage into a successful operation with agents across Ontario. Gifted in one-to-one conversations, Elaine wanted her blogs and presentations to have equally powerful impact. She found it challenging to connect with more general audiences and readers she couldn’t personally interact with.
Elaine undertook the Essential Voice Program with the goal of having a greater impact in her writing and speaking. Through the program’s initial assignments, it was clear that Elaine was a capable writer, technically. We focused on tools and techniques to connect emotionally with audiences – including diverse groups and the “invisible” audience of blog readers.
It’s always the case that the Essential Voice Program leads to profound discoveries. An important one for Elaine was a mismatch between her naturally positive, humorous personality, and how she wrote and spoke. A key focus of our work in Essential Voice was teaching her to reframe her leadership messages to reflect her personality and collaborative approach with clients.
During the program, Elaine planned, structured, wrote, and delivered a presentation to a diverse audience. It turned out to be her best presentation experience to date. She has also written new blogs for her website that are much more emotionally engaged with the intended reader than previous writing. Elaine’s writing process is now much more efficient – this is always an intended outcome of the Essential Voice Program.
